Why electric trucks break roadside equipment
Rated capacity is not a suggestion. A jack rated for 3 tons under a 4.5-ton Hummer EV is a failure waiting for a technician to be underneath it. Same for stands, same for straps, same for the recovery point selection on a vehicle whose frame carries a battery pack where a gas truck carried air.
Torque compounds the problem. Electric trucks specify wheel torque figures well above passenger-car numbers, and after heat cycling in Texas summers those fasteners require serious mechanical advantage to break loose. A standard four-way wrench will round the nut before it moves it.
And the wheels themselves are the issue nobody plans for. A loaner wheel program that stocks 18 and 19-inch sedan fitments is useless to an R1T on 35s. We stock truck sizes because we get truck calls.
