Why EV tires fail sooner than you expect
An electric vehicle is heavier than its combustion equivalent by five hundred to a thousand pounds, and all of that mass rides on the same four contact patches. Add instant torque off the line and the result is measurable: EV tires wear roughly twenty to thirty percent faster and are more prone to failing outright when they meet road debris at speed.
Manufacturers respond with EV-specific tires — reinforced sidewalls, foam liners for cabin noise, low rolling resistance compounds. Those tires are excellent and they are also more expensive and less forgiving of a bad repair. A foam-lined tire cannot be repaired the way an ordinary tire can without removing the liner properly, which is the sort of detail a general roadside operator working out of a pickup bed does not carry the tooling for.
There's a second factor specific to Texas. Summer pavement in Dallas routinely runs above 140°F, which raises tire pressure, softens compounds, and turns a marginal sidewall into a failure. Most of our July and August tire calls happen between two and six in the afternoon.
