Air suspension changes everything about lifting
Adaptive air suspension is standard or near-standard across the luxury EV segment, and it does not sit still. Left in normal mode, the system reads the change in ride height as the jack takes load and actively tries to correct it, which at best fights the lift and at worst drops the car as the compressor cycles.
Every one of these cars has a service or jacking mode, reached differently on each — a touchscreen menu on Lucid and EQS, a specific sequence on Taycan, an iDrive path on i7. Setting it takes thirty seconds and is not optional.
The consequence of skipping it is not theoretical. A car settling onto a jack pad off-point cracks a sill, and on an EV the sill sits directly outboard of the battery pack.
